My Mother's Love

I was a test pilot at the Naval Air Test Center in Pawtuxet River, Maryland when I enrolled in night school at St. Mary's College in Leonardtown, Maryland. I was a student in Beginning Drawing and Beginning Watercolor. Here is my first completed painting. It was only years later that I began to realize that all the good artistic qualities of this painting were results of my teacher's touching up and overpainting of my elementary efforts as he helped me not to get discouraged.
